Gamers across the country waited in anticipation for hours, and even days, at Best Buy stores across the country to get their hands on the all new PlayStation 4 gaming system. Available for $399.99, the new gaming system was first announced in February 2013 and it’s been seven years since the launch of the last PlayStation gaming system – making gamers very eager for its arrival.
Midnight openings were held at nearly all Best Buy stores across the country and all purchases of the new PlayStation 4 started at 12:01 a.m. local time. Stores opened up to two hours early to begin processing orders ahead of time and help get customers the games, controllers, accessories and other products and services needed for the ultimate gaming experience.
“Gaming will be one of the most popular product categories for consumers this holiday season,” said Chris Koller, vice president of Gaming at Best Buy. “The midnight launch of the PlayStation 4 is just the beginning of the excitement. The Xbox One launches next week and Best Buy will have interactive displays of both gaming systems in stores throughout the holiday season so customers can touch, test and try these new gaming systems to see what’s best for them.”
Customers who missed the midnight launch, but are still looking to get the PlayStation 4 can check online at http://www.bestbuy.com/ps4 or visit their nearby store, quantities may be limited.
