Best Buy Earns Top Retailer on Newsweek Most Responsible Companies List

Best Buy has been named to Newsweek’s list of America’s Most Responsible Companies 2021, and we’re proud to be the top retailer on the list.

We jumped to No. 22 in the ranking, up from No. 53 last year. We earned a score of 87.3 out of 100, just a few points back from the top score of 93.2.

Being included on the list demonstrates our commitment to corporate responsibility and sustainability. The pandemic has underscored the need to focus on the issues most important to our stakeholders while keeping our customers, employees and customers safe.

This is the second year that Newsweek has compiled this list.

About the list

America’s Most Responsible Companies were selected based on publicly available environmental, social and governance data as well as an independent survey of U.S. residents. Compiled by Newsweek in partnership with Statista, the list recognizes the 400 most responsible companies in the U.S. across 14 different industry subcategories.

How we made the list

We are committed to preserving the environment, both through reducing carbon emissions in our operations and helping our customers do the same. We are embracing clean energy though investments in solar projects, and we have joined other leading companies in committing to be carbon neutral by 2040.

Our practices and culture are also focused on people. We aim to foster an inclusive and diverse work environment. Our training and development program is rated among the best in the world, and we’re supporting our communities through programs like our Best Buy Teen Tech Centers.

We were also recently named to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index for the tenth year.
