When people think about recycling old electronics to make room for new gear, tube TVs, boom boxes and laptop computers usually come to mind. But it’s actually much smaller items that most frequently find their way into the recycling bins at Best Buy’s stores.
Among the most popular items? Printer ink cartridges.
In honor of Earth Day – and every day after – you now will be rewarded for bringing in your old ink. In addition to the convenience of drop-off locations at every Best Buy store, you will get a $2 coupon for every cartridge you recycle. Plus, My Best Buy loyalty program members get 15 percent off every ink purchase. (There is a limit of five cartridges recycled per customer, and only one coupon may be spent per $40 worth of new ink or toner.)
This is the latest benefit in a recycling program www.bestbuy.com/recycling that has taken back more than a billion pounds of consumer electronics and appliances since 2009. As one of the world’s largest retailers of consumer electronics, Best Buy wants to make it easy for you to recycle or trade in your electronics as you upgrade to new products.
Technology is the fastest growing waste stream on the planet, and Best Buy alone takes in about 409 pounds of electronics and large appliances every minute our stores are open. Remember, recycling is available free at every Best Buy store in the U.S. – no matter where you bought your product or how old it is.
Happy Earth Day.
