Last year at CES, LG grabbed headlines with a product prototype that looked more like something you’d find in a sci-fi movie than in your living room — a TV that was literally as thin as wallpaper.
One year later, it’s becoming a reality. The wallpaper-thin LG Signature OLED W is about to hit the market, but customers can get a sneak peek of it at Magnolia locations inside seven Best Buy stores starting tomorrow.
To see the TV that’s 2.5-millimeters thick — thinner than a standard yoga mat — in person, visit Magnoliaav.com to find a store, or check out the list below. And starting Thursday, make sure to order yours on BestBuy.com.
In addition, from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 7, the first 25 people to check out the TV at the seven Magnolia locations will get a $50 Best Buy gift card. (Limit one offer per person, per household.)
Intrigued? Here are some highlights about the LG Signature OLED W:
- It’s so thin and light that it can attach directly to the wall, and yet still deliver a 4K Ultra HD, High Dynamic Range picture and Dolby Atmos® surround sound. (If you’re confused by some of these acronyms, click for more: OLED, 4K Ultra HD, HDR, and Dolby Atmos®)
- With more than a billion rich colors, it delivers a theater-quality experience. It even holds up from wide angles, so now everyone on the couch will have an ideal viewing experience.
- Most TVs need a backlight, but not this screen. The individually illuminating pixels of LG’s OLED TV can brighten, dim and power off completely. That means that contrast — the ratio between the lightest and darkest areas of the screen — creates a more lifelike image with bolder colors.
