Every minute, 20 people around the world leave everything behind to escape war, persecution or terror, according to the U.N. Hashim Ali is one of them — but, as he’ll tell you, his identity is so much more.

19 Jun: Best Buy Employee Shares ‘Celebration And Joy’ Of Juneteenth

Quest Dew has been celebrating Juneteenth for years, and he’s on a mission to share that celebration with his Best Buy co-workers.

Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States on June 19, 1865 — nearly 2 ½ years after the Emancipation Proclamation. It has long been a meaningful holiday for Black Americans, yet its awareness has remained relatively low among the broader population.

That’s why Quest decided to bring the celebration to his colleagues at Best Buy’s Seattle Technology Office last year.

15 Jul: Best Buy’s Technovation partnership preps teen girls for tomorrow’s jobs

One spring afternoon in the school library, Josie Davis and Sienna Russell hit a roadblock in the code they were writing.

The girls turned their heads expectantly to Suprabha Hegde, a junior software engineer at Best Buy. She pointed to their screens as she guided them through the next steps.

Suprabha is one of 50 Best Buy employees who have volunteered over the past four months with TechnovationMN, the Minnesota branch of a global program that teaches teen girls to dream up, design and code mobile phone applications that solve real-world problems that teams have identified in their communities.

24 May: Creating a culture of inclusion at Best Buy

At Best Buy, celebrating Pride stretches beyond the celebrations in June. It means more than raising awareness and support for LGBTQ+ employees and people in the communities we serve. It means creating a culture of inclusion where everyone feels welcome and accepted. From coast to coast, here are unique stories from some of our people who are helping do just that.

In Seattle, employees celebrate Pride year-round

When Best Buy opened its Seattle Technology Development Center in 2015, office manager Kathryn Kelley saw a need to drive employee engagement there.
