Kerry Childe

11 Nov: Lawyer. Linguist. Air Force Veteran. Meet Kerry Childe.

During the M*A*S*H series finale, a 10-year-old Kerry Childe glanced at her dad on the couch and did a double take.

There he was. Sitting at attention. Clad in his United States Marine Corps uniform.

His explanation: “The finale is on, and I have to pay my respects.”

With a Navy man for a stepfather – and being a direct descendant of Robert E. Lee’s sister, Mildred – it’s not much of a surprise Childe followed in her ancestral footsteps, serving her nation by joining the Air Force.

Kody Oldham

23 May: It’s a Home Entertainment Makeover for Two Members of the Navy, Thanks to Operation Gratitude and Best Buy

While deployed on the seas of the Middle East aboard the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier, Kody Oldham and his wife, Kyla, had been diligently saving so the young couple could splurge on a home entertainment system when Kody returned home to Chesapeake, Va.

But Operation Gratitude and the Best Buy Military Employee Business Network took care of that for them last week, coincidentally just days before Memorial Day.

The Navy Operations Specialist was the 1,000,001st recipient of an Operation Gratitude care package.
