Best Buy recently joined the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) and other leading businesses to support the Equality Act, federal legislation that would expand legal protections for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people.
This endorsement underscores our determination to foster an inclusive environment for our employees and customers. It’s also consistent with Best Buy’s core value to “unleash the power of our people” and utilize their unique talents, life experiences, beliefs and backgrounds to create incredible experiences for customers and for ourselves.
“As a retailer with 50 years of experience serving the American consumer, we value the uniqueness and diversity of all our customers and employees,” said Susan Bass Roberts, head of Diversity and Inclusion for Best Buy. “It’s only natural that we fully support workplace fairness, which includes equal rights for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities. Quite simply, it’s just the right thing to do.”
Best Buy scored a perfect 100 on HRC’s annual Corporate Equality Index (CEI), a nationally recognized benchmark of LGBT inclusion in the workplace, and was recognized on HRC’s list of Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality in 2015.
