Best Buy was honored for its leadership in addressing climate change on Tuesday during the Climate Leadership Conference in Seattle.
The company received the Climate Leadership Award for Excellence in Greenhouse Gas Management. The award acknowledges our public reporting and verification of greenhouse gas inventories, as well as our aggressive emissions reduction goals.
Best Buy recently set a new goal to reduce carbon emissions 45 percent by 2020. This science-based goal builds on the 26 percent reduction in carbon achieved in our operations last year.
The award was bestowed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions (C2ES), and The Climate Registry (TCR).
Professionals from business, government, academia and the non-profit community are at the annual conference to explore best practices for addressing climate change through policy, innovation and business solutions.
