Best Buy is thrilled to have earned a top score on the Disability Equality Index (DEI), landing among other leading companies on the list of Best Places to Work for Disability Inclusion.
For our business to succeed, we need to hire and retain the best possible employees. To accomplish this, we want our working environment to make everyone feel included so people can do their best work every day.
More than 61 million adults in the U.S. — a quarter of the population — report having a disability, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The complexities of living and working with disabilities bring valuable skills and traits to the workplace, such as problem-solving, determination and perseverance.
Building on our comprehensive Workplace Accommodation program, Best Buy recently expanded mental health resources for employees. We also encourage participation in an Employee Resource Group dedicated to improving the experience for both employees and customers with disabilities.
The DEI, in its fifth year, is a joint initiative of Disability:IN and the American Association of People with Disabilities. It’s the most comprehensive tool for companies to self-report and benchmark their disability policies and practices. Criteria for the index include enterprise-wide access, benefits, accommodations, culture and community engagement.
More than 180 companies participated in the survey, the highest yet. Best Buy is proud to be part of an increasing number of top-scoring companies helping to grow disability inclusion practices across the business community.
