Best Buy has been included in Bloomberg’s Gender Equality Index for the second consecutive year, demonstrating our commitment to inclusion and diversity at all levels of the company.
The 2021 index includes 380 companies across 11 sectors and 44 countries. We are one of only 138 U.S. companies and seven retailers on the Index.
In a business environment that has significantly changed, it’s more important than ever for companies to attract and retain diverse talent, including women. In order to be successful in this, a company must offer flexible work arrangements, work/life balance and an inclusive environment.
About the Gender Equality Index
In its second year, the framework assesses public companies across five areas:
- Female leadership and talent pipeline
- Equal pay and gender pay parity
- An inclusive culture
- Sexual harassment policies
- A pro-women brand
This data helps investors to make decisions based on social factors and holds companies accountable for their gender equality transparency and performance.
How we made the index
Gender equality is a priority at Best Buy, starting at the top. We have a female CEO, Corie Barry, and 50% of our board of directors is composed of women.
We offer benefits that help families in meaningful ways, including backup childcare, paid caregiver leave, and adoption, infertility and surrogacy support. We also support employee development though our Women’s Employee Resource Group, which provides opportunities for networking, mentoring and leadership.
Best Buy was recently named to Forbes magazine’s list of America’s Best Employers for Women and Parity.org’s Best Companies for Women to Advance.
