Geek Squad is gearing up to go for gold this week at the X Games Aspen 2016.
Best Buy’s Services brand is joining forces with Trend Micro, a global leader in security software, to co-sponsor a trio of snowmobile riders in this year’s competition. Chris Heppding will race in the snowmobile SnoCross adaptive final tonight, and then 2008 silver medalist Brett Turcotte and his McGuire Motorsports teammate, Josh Penner, will compete in the snowmobile freestyle final Friday night.
Trend Micro and Geek Squad are teaming up on the sponsorship to generate awareness for the importance of data security.
“Geek Squad’s motto of Cura et Celeritas (accuracy and speed) is as relevant to extreme sports as it is for tech support,” Geek Squad Chief Inspector Nate Bauer said. “Everything these amazing athletes do has to be so finely tuned. It’s very, very technical — just like the work our Agents do every day.”
X Games Aspen 2016, which run from today through Sunday, will be televised globally in 215 countries and territories to more than 365 million homes.
The snowmobile SnoCross Adaptive Final will air on ESPN3 tonight, starting at 5:30 p.m. ET, and the Snowmobile Freestyle Final will be telecast on ESPN on Friday, starting at 7 p.m. ET.
