This week, Best Buy is heading to Las Vegas for CES 2017, the world’s largest gathering for technology and innovation.
Thousands of companies from around the world — from industry giants to small startups — will be there Jan. 5-8 to unveil, experience and discuss the latest in consumer electronics. We’re talking about everything from TVs and virtual reality to self-driving cars and high-tech mattresses.
Best Buy goes every year to meet with our vendor partners and check out products on the show floor before they hit the market. After all, we’re the leading authority on C.E. products and services.
As our executives, merchants and marketers get ready to board their flights to Vegas, we asked them what they’re most excited to see and do while they’re there.
Meet with business partners
“For me, it’s mainly meeting with the CEOs of some of our key vendors, alongside our merchant and marketing teams, to talk about how we can keep moving the business forward and create new opportunities. And, of course, I love to see all of the cool, new products.” — Hubert Joly, Chairman and CEO
“My favorite part of CES is getting the chance to see our vendor partners, thank them for their support and then start talking about how we can collectively bring their amazing technologies to life for our customers.” — Allison Peterson, Vice President, Marketing
“I always look forward to kicking off the new year by attending CES. It brings together innovators from the tech industry as well as leaders in technology from all levels of government to discuss key public policy issues.” — Parker Brugge, Senior Director, Public Affairs
Explore the latest innovations
“For me, CES is the place to spot trends. Has mobility gone aerial? Are cars speaking with each other? Will consumers be able to control their own health? I find CES less about discrete innovations and more about a collection of inventive thoughts that have the potential to redefine everyday living. I also find CES a central destination to meet thought leaders, industry peers and those who care about how life is getting better with technology.” — Asheesh Saksena, Chief Strategic Growth Officer
“I always look forward to seeing all of the technology integration. You can read about it and hear about it, but when you can experience some of the demos as they’re supposed to happen, it really starts to change your mind about what’s possible. I think that’s the cool part of CES.” — Luke Motschenbacher, Vice President, Home Theater
“My favorite part of CES is seeing all of the amazing new products and ideas that our vendor partners have brought to life. Then I think about how we can uniquely positon Geek Squad to make installation, setup, support — or even just training and education — simple and easy for our customers on those new products.” — Matt Bonin, Vice President, Geek Squad
“I look forward to seeing the start-ups and their nascent products. I’m always amazed by the passion and perseverance of people having an idea and pursuing their dream — against the odds.” — Mary Lou Kelley, President of e-Commerce
Take the pulse of the industry
“It’s exciting to see how many people are interested in the technology industry, and there are more categories than ever that are being impacted by technology in a really meaningful way. There’s a reason that city fills up for CES.”— Anna Sandquist, Merchant Director, Smart Home
“It’s a new year. Everybody’s there, and everybody’s excited to talk about and unveil new things. Some things we’ve known about for six to 12 months finally get shared with a wider audience, so we get to see how customers and the media react to some of those things. It’s always fun to see that come to life.” — Blake Hampton, Merchant Director, Mobile
