It was a university career fair that first sparked Haylee Weaver’s interest in Best Buy.
The management information systems student wasn’t really sure what she was looking for at first, and she felt a bit overwhelmed by the event until she saw the Best Buy booth. It was a brand she was familiar with, so she stopped to learn more.
She talked to a company recruiter who helped place her in an internship that matched her skills. Then, following graduation, Haylee accepted a job as a product analyst on Best Buy’s digital and technology team.
“I was immediately in love with the environment and the people at Best Buy,” she said. “I was excited to go to work every morning, and I am not a morning person.”
Stories like that are what make Best Buy a great place for young professionals. In fact, Forbes magazine just named us to its list of America’s Best Employers for New Grads for the second time. We rank No. 58 this year, up from No. 239 a year ago.
The list identifies the companies that new members of the workforce like most and would recommend. While pay is a major factor, young professionals also look for development opportunities and a company that has a strong purpose and values.
A great place to work
Best Buy is committed to being one of the best places to work in America.
We strive to create an inclusive culture where all our employees can grow and prosper. We offer competitive pay and benefits, including mental health resources, backup childcare, paid caregiver leave, and adoption, infertility and surrogacy support.
Best Buy also is a purpose-drive company that aims to enrich lives through technology. That goes beyond selling products to the way we positively impact the world and contribute to the common good through our social impact and sustainability programs.
In addition to this latest award from Forbes, we were also named to the magazine’s recent list of America’s Best Employers for Women. We’ve also been named a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality and one of the Best Places to Work for Disability Inclusion.
We’re hiring
We recently announced a commitment to hire more than 1,000 new employees to our technology team, and 30% of those new hires will be diverse — specifically Black, Latinx, Indigenous and women. These positions will be located at our corporate office in Minneapolis, as well as our tech centers in San Diego, Seattle and Boston.
About the list
Forbes, in partnership with Statista, surveyed more than 20,000 young professionals (those who have less than 10 years of work experience) working for companies employing at least 1,000 people in the U.S. Companies were rated on six aspects, including company image, diversity and working conditions.
