This has been a year like no other, and to show our gratitude for the resilience shown by our employees, Best Buy is offering a vaccine benefit and paying bonuses.
We are offering paid time off for any employee who gets a COVID-19 vaccination, as well as additional sick time if side effects from getting vaccinated. Best Buy is not requiring employees to get the COVID-19 vaccine, but strongly encourages them to consider doing so for their safety and the safety of loved ones and co-workers.
We will also be paying all U.S. hourly employees a one-time bonus for the incredible work they’ve performed during this past year of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Vaccine benefit
The vaccine benefit is a thank you for employees who take the time to get vaccinated, not just because it helps keep them safe but because it does the same for everyone they work with.
Part-time employees will receive four hours, and full-time employees will get eight hours. The time will be provided after vaccination has been verified. This is not time off to get the vaccination, it’s to use how employees want afterward.
If employees experience illness after getting the vaccine, they will receive additional sick time: four hours for part-time employees and eight hours for full-time employees. This is in addition to the “thank you” paid time off.
One-time bonus
Our employees are on the frontlines every day have been essential in ensuring our customers continue to be able to work, learn, connect and cook at home. They have shown resilience, flexibility and a commitment to our purpose of enriching lives through technology.
To reward that, all hourly employees – regardless of whether they are a full-time, part-time or an occasional seasonal employee – will receive a gratitude bonus. Full-time hourly U.S. employees will receive $500 and part-time U.S. employees will get $200. The bonus will go to all hourly employees who were with the company as Feb. 15, 2021, regardless of whether they are staying with us or leaving.
