It’s that time of year when temperatures start climbing and sweat starts falling.
If you want to stay cool, there are the old standbys: Head for the lake, to a beach or to a pool and dive in.
But what if you want to stay cool at home? There are lots of options for bringing the temperature in your home down without cooling the entire house. Here are some suggestions from Best Buy:
- A portable air conditioner, like one from Honeywell, allows you to switch between A/C, dehumidifying and a plain old fan. And you do the switching with a remote, so you don’t even have to get off the couch to regulate your comfort.
- A smart thermostat, such as a Nest, lets you control the temperature with your smartphone while you’re gone. You can go to the beach and, then, as you’re packing up your blanket and sunscreen, turn on the A/C in your house so it’s nice and cool when you get back home.
- A snow cone maker, such as this one from Nostalgia Electrics, will take you back to the icy treats of your youth — and, perhaps, stir nostalgia for the snow of last winter.
