09 Jan: Statement on Case of United States of America vs. Mark Albert Rettenmaier

The following is a statement from Best Buy regarding Geek Squad’s role in the criminal child pornography case of the United States of America vs. Mark Albert Rettenmaier:

“Best Buy and Geek Squad have no relationship with the FBI. From time to time, our repair agents discover material that may be child pornography, and we have a legal and moral obligation to turn that material over to law enforcement. We are proud of our policy and share it with our customers before we begin any repair.

22 Dec: Best Buy Community Efforts Extend to China

Best Buy is committed to helping kids reach their full potential. Our community efforts extend all the way to Shanghai, China, where I work on Best Buy’s private label sourcing team.

We wanted to help our local community and address an issue that we are very passionate about – the environment. Together with Dr. Jane Goodall’s nonprofit, Shanghai Roots & Shoots, we created an environmental education program, called Youth for Environmental Sustainability (YES).

The environment is a critical issue in China, as we have seen pollution increase significantly over the years.
