Barron’s, Fortune, CDP put Best Buy on prestigious lists

Best Buy is proud to be recognized by Barron’s, Fortune and CDP in their prestigious annual rankings of companies that lead in a variety of ways. These rankings reflect the ways Best Buy strives to enrich lives through technology by serving all stakeholders, including customers, employees, vendor partners, the communities in which we operate, the environment and shareholders.

Barron’s 100 Most Sustainable Companies in America

Best Buy came in at No. 5 on Barron’s 100 Most Sustainable Companies in America list for 2020, our third year in the top five. This list considers more than 230 indicators that address Environmental, Social and Governance issues, such as workplace diversity, data security, human rights in the supply chain and environmental impact, and looks at how companies performed for key stakeholders.

Fortune World’s Most Admired Companies

Best Buy was named the No. 1 Specialty Retailer on Fortune’s World’s Most Admired Companies list for the first time, and placed at No. 83 overall. To determine the list, business leaders rated companies on criteria covering financial performance, leadership, quality of products and services, ability to attract and retain talent, responsibility to community and the environment, and long-term investment value.

In earning this recognition, Best Buy was also named a Fortune Blue Ribbon Company, as one of 51 companies appearing on at least four of Fortune’s 10 most rigorous lists for 2019. We appeared on five of Fortune’s lists last year.

CDP Climate A List

Best Buy is one of 35 U.S. companies named to CDP’s Climate A List, which includes the top 2% of companies worldwide impacting climate change. CDP is the global authority on environmental issues, and their rating system informs investors and helps companies reduce their environmental impact.  Best Buy is taking action by working toward our Science-Based Targets to reduce carbon emissions 75% by 2030 (over a 2009 baseline) and to reduce the carbon emissions of the products we sell 20% by 2030. This is our fourth time on this list.
