MINNEAPOLIS, May 23, 2012 - Best Buy Co., Inc. (NYSE:BBY) today announced the 2012 Best Buy Scholarship Program winners, each of whom will receive a $1,000 scholarship for demonstrating excellence in academic achievements, volunteer efforts and work experience. This year, scholarships will be awarded to 1,106 students in grades 9-12, living in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, who plan to enter a full-time undergraduate course of study upon high school graduation. Best Buy and Best Buy Children’s Foundation are focused on opportunities to help teen students prepare for a brighter future with dollars for college tuition.

Since the inception of its scholarship program in 1999, Best Buy has provided nearly $20.7 million in scholarship funds to help 16,545 students attend college. The program recently expanded eligibility to include students in grades 9-12. Nearly 165,000 students registered for this year’s scholarships.
