Best Buy Named ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year for Fourth Year

For the fourth year in a row, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) honored Best Buy with the ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year Sustained Excellence Award.

We are thrilled to receive this honor for our commitment to educating our customers on the benefits of energy efficiency and promoting the ENERGY STAR label in our stores and online.

At Best Buy, we have long recognized the benefit of partnering with ENERGY STAR, which not only lowers our customers’ utility bills, but also reduces environmental impacts in the communities we serve. In fact, since 2009, through the purchase of ENERGY STAR products, our customers have realized more than $662 million in utility savings and avoided more than 9 billion pounds of CO2.

The ENERGY STAR program, which was created in 1992, sets standards for energy-efficient appliances and electronics. It includes everything from refrigerators to TVs, and now even smart thermostats. More than 88 percent of Americans can identify the ENERGY STAR label, making it the most recognized energy efficient mark in the United States.

However, it’s not only about awareness. The ENERGY STAR label is a trusted symbol of energy efficiency. It is crucial for Best Buy, as our customers’ tech advisor, to have a reliable, easy way to identify products that save energy and money.

We are proud of the work we do every day to create a thriving business while ensuring we are a good steward of the environment. ENERGY STAR has been a cornerstone of our sustainability strategy, helping us deliver on our commitment to provide sustainable products for our customers. By reducing energy usage, ENERGY STAR-certified products make the world cleaner and healthier for all of us.
