Best Buy Chairman and CEO Hubert Joly on Tuesday signed the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion™ pledge. It’s the largest CEO-driven business commitment to advance diversity and inclusion within the workplace.
Best Buy recognizes that diversity within an organization spurs greater innovation, revenue growth and strategic-critical thinking.
“Best Buy strives to unleash the power of our people and utilize their unique talents, experiences, beliefs and backgrounds to create an engaging work environment best suited to fulfill our mission of helping our customers pursue their passions and enrich their lives with the help of technology,” Hubert said. “Doing so is fundamental to our long-term success and achieved through a diverse and inclusive workplace.”
By signing the pledge, Hubert and the Best Buy Executive Team reaffirmed their commitment to:
- Continuing to make a trusting workplace where complex and occasionally difficult conversations about diversity and inclusion can happen.
- Implementing and expanding unconscious bias education.
- Sharing best — and unsuccessful — practices.
More than 270 CEOs of the world’s leading companies and organizations have signed the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion™ pledge.
Also announced today, Best Buy named Howard Rankin as the company’s first Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer. Howard has worked for Best Buy for more than four years in various roles, most recently leading Best Buy’s Employee Relations function.
