Best Buy continually assesses and evolves ways to support our employees’ overall well-being — including those who find themselves in the most important role of all: caregiver. We have a suite of benefits to offer and are excited to announce the newest one available to all full-time and part-time employees. Meet Joshin.
Joshin is a support system for disability and neurodivergence in the workplace and life. It supports Best Buy employees, their families, and their teams through specialized care and navigation, 1:1 video coaching, and neurodivergent- and disability-focused self-service training.
Some of the live coaching topics Joshin offers include understanding a new diagnosis, special education planning, navigating benefits, and leading with empathy. In addition, there are disability educational resources and webinars to help unlock the power of diversity and employee belonging.
With Joshin, employees can also find, schedule, and pay for care by experienced caregivers — all in one place — for a seamless and stress-free experience. And, you get personalized navigation from your designated advocate who’s there to help guide you through it all.
Joshin was founded by twin sisters who experienced caring for their older brother, Josh, who had developmental disabilities and epilepsy. They know what it’s like to struggle with finding reliable care and support, and they know there’s no one-size-fits-all plan. So, they created Joshin to support and bring awareness to the world’s diverse disability and neurodivergent community.
Sara’s story
Sara Sagedahl, a marketing manager at Best Buy, has already been using Joshin for several years and has found it playing a vital role in her family when they need care for her 10-year-old son.
Evan has Down syndrome and autism. Before finding Joshin, Sara says, it had been very challenging to find the right care providers for him, including during summer break.
“With Joshin, we’ve connected with three incredible caregivers who all had previous experience caring for people with disabilities,” she said. “I can’t say enough about the quality of the providers and how easy it is to use. It’s definitely my go-to for finding any new caregivers!”
Getting connected
With this benefit, all part-time and full-time employees can access unlimited live coaching sessions and disability education and training. Caregiving employees can receive two credits per month for backup care when they book caregivers through Joshin, and each credit can be used to schedule a caregiver booking for up to 10 hours in length.
“As a Best Buy employee, I am thrilled that Best Buy will be offering this much needed benefit to caregiving employees who are connected to disability and neurodivergence. It’s been an amazing support for my family,” Sara said.
