You’ve heard us talk about the positive impact that comes from buying ENERGY STAR products and now, on this Earth Day, Best Buy is showing you.
Our new ENERGY STAR tracker on BestBuy.com shows the estimated collective environmental and financial impact from sales of products in easy-to-understand terms. For instance, the amount of water we estimate customers will save this year from ENERGY STAR certified products could fill more than 25 million bathtubs! You can see for yourself on our Appliance and Sustainability pages.
ENERGY STAR certified products use less energy and water, while helping reduce your energy bills. Selling these products is part of our commitment to helping customers reduce their environmental footprint and save money.
Helping you live more sustainably
We’ve set a goal to help our customers reduce their own carbon emissions 20% by 2030 through the use of ENERGY STAR certified products. So far, we’ve sold more than 56 million ENERGY STAR certified products. That’s the equivalent of removing 3 million cars off roads for an entire year.
We recently partnered with TED Countdown and The Climate Pledge on a new video series that highlights just how big of an impact we can have together through the use of ENERGY STAR certified products.
Innovating for impact
At Best Buy, our people are at the heart of innovation. In fact, the idea to help our customers understand their collective impact when purchasing sustainable products came to life during Innovation Week, an annual weeklong event our Digital, Analytics and Technology organization holds where teams get together and work on solving problems that interest them, outside of their day-to-day responsibilities.
One team chose to develop a sustainability tracker that could capture annual energy, water and dollar savings from products sold at Best Buy. The project won the technology team’s “Innovate 2022: Ways of Working” award. In 2022, more than 300 employees worked on 40 projects during Innovation Week.
Best Buy was recently named to Fast Company’s list of Best Workplaces for Innovators.
