02 Nov: On path to carbon neutrality, Best Buy invests in solar energy

We aim to meaningfully reduce our impact on the environment and help our customers do the same. By making decisions with the future in mind, we can help save our planet for future generations.

That’s why we’ve set aggressive goals to reduce our carbon emissions 75% by 2030 and achieve net zero emissions by 2040. To help achieve these goals, we’ve invested in solar projects across the country, including California, South Carolina and Texas, and have already cut carbon emissions in our operations by 61% since 2009.

13 Oct: New Best Buy solar project powers up sustainability goals

Best Buy has proudly reduced our carbon emissions 61% since 2009, and today we are announcing another huge stride toward our pledge to be carbon neutral by 2040.

We’re unveiling the new Prospero 2 Best Buy Solar in partnership with U.S Bank and Longroad Energy. Our portion of the project will offset the carbon impact of 300 Best Buy stores, approximately 30% of our U.S. store portfolio, for 10 years.

The solar field, located in Andrews County, Texas, began producing power in August.

25 Aug: Best Buy to power 57 Texas locations with clean solar energy

Best Buy has committed to be carbon neutral across our business by 2040, and we’re taking another big step toward that goal by expanding our use of renewable energy.

We recently signed a 10-year agreement with Constellation, a leading energy company, to power 57 stores and a 600,000-square-foot distribution center with solar energy sourced from the 140-megawatt Big Star Solar project that is currently in development in Texas. Our portion of the project is expected to produce approximately 46,845 megawatt hours per year.

17 Nov: Best Buy Focuses on Clean Energy with New Solar Project

For more than a decade, we’ve been focused on building a more sustainable world for the communities we serve, and today we’re announcing our biggest commitment yet to renewable energy.

In partnership with U.S. Bank and Longroad Energy, we’re proud to be part of the Little Bear Solar Project in Fresno County, California. It’s set to produce 480,000 megawatt hours of electricity annually for the local power grid, enough to power the equivalent of approximately 715 Best Buy stores.

“Sustainability is at the core of what we do, and we are proud to be making an investment that will have a positive impact on our communities and the environment,” said Tim Dunn, head of environmental sustainability at Best Buy.

22 Jun: Best Buy Unveils South Carolina Solar Field

Best Buy has cut our carbon footprint in half since 2009, and now we’re making our biggest commitment yet to renewable energy.

In collaboration with solar developer X-Elio and U.S. Bank, we are proud to unveil the Best Buy Solar Field in Martin, South Carolina.
