New and enhanced employee benefits and community involvement helped Best Buy land a spot on the 2019 DiversityInc Noteworthy list.
The list recognizes the nation’s top companies that excel in hiring, retaining and promoting women, minorities, people with disabilities, LGBTQ and veterans. Best Buy is one of 35 companies on the list. As a company, we focus on allowing our employees to bring their whole selves to work each day.
Here are some reasons why we earned this prestigious honor:
- We create a culture of support around mental health by providing education and offering increased resources. This includes 24/7 access to a mental health professional through Best Buy’s Employee Assistance Program and eight no-cost counseling sessions per year.
- A set of benefits is available to assist employees during unplanned life experiences. For example, Paid Caregiver Leave gives eligible employees up to 160 hours of time off at 100% base pay.
- We offer domestic partner healthcare benefits for same-gender partners, as well as transgender benefits.
- We help prepare teens from underrepresented communities around the country through our Best Buy Teen Tech Centers.
- We partner students with autism and other learning differences from Minnesota Independence College and Community with Best Buy employees to focus on workforce development skills.
- We have a corporate work-study program that employs local Cristo Rey High School students to give them workforce experience, and this program traditionally supports students of color.
“Our commitment to each and every employee is encompassed by Best Buy’s values and guiding behaviors,” said Howard Rankin, Best Buy’s chief diversity and inclusion officer. “We’re happy to share this recognition with our employees and customers.”
