Best Buy Mexico took first place in the retail category at the eCommerce Awards Mexico 2019, the country’s highest recognition for online companies.
The awards were presented by the eCommerce Institute and the Mexican Online Sales Association as part of eRetail Day Mexico on March 7. A jury of international experts chose the winners.
“We are so proud to receive this prestigious award,” said Fernando Silva, president of Best Buy Mexico. “It’s a great testament to the hard work and dedication of our teams to create a world-class, multichannel customer experience.”
Online retail accounts for only 2 percent of total sales in Mexico, but the industry is growing rapidly. It’s estimated that e-commerce sales will go to five times its current size in the next three years and to 10 times its current size in the next 10 years, according to the Mexican Online Sales Association.
Best Buy Mexico launched its e-commerce website in 2013, about five years after we opened our first store there. It’s now one of the country’s leading retail sites.
