Geek Squad Academy
Next generation of teens meets the next generation of tech.
Geek Squad Academy is designed to give youth ages 10–18 opportunities to develop technology skills that inspire future education and career choices. Through hands-on learning, students envision a future where they are creators, not just consumers, of the technology that powers the world.
When attending a Geek Squad Academy camp, students become Junior Agents and gain experience with some of today’s most exciting technology, led by instructors from Best Buy and Geek Squad. This two-day camp experience introduces students to fields such as coding, robotics, animation, music production, and more.
Proposals are now open for organizations interested in hosting Geek Squad Academy.
Applications are being accepted for camps taking place between May and October 2027. Geek Squad Academy is provided at no cost to selected organizations as an in-kind donation from Best Buy.
Camp requirements
- 125–200 youth attendees
- Access to 6–7 rooms that accommodate up to 25 youth each
- Common assembly space for lunch and opening/closing ceremonies
- One adult chaperone for every 20 youth
- Tuesday availability for setup, with camp held Wednesday and Thursday
You may notice we’ve returned to our standard attendance range of 125-200 youth. This season we’re introducing a new facilitator model, with traveling instructors supporting camps in communities of all sizes.
This expanded approach allows us to bring Geek Squad Academy to more areas, including regions supported by a single Best Buy store.

In 2007, Geek Squad Agents started teaching high school students how to build computers in the Midwest. During the pilot, a female Agent realized none of the existing programs were designed for young women. She created the first Geek Squad Summer Academy camp for girls in Chicago to address this need.
Seeing the excitement from our newly dubbed “Junior Agents,” we realized the potential to do more. We expanded the Academy to new cities, now including young men and women ages 10-18. Through partnerships with nonprofits and youth organizations, GSA has brought tech camps to over 100 cities and military bases, impacting tens of thousands of Junior Agents in the U.S. and Canada.
Today, our program continues to grow. We now offer year-round curriculum covering robotics, music production, programming, web design, and more – well beyond our original computer repair camps.
With our Geek Squad Agents and Best Buy employees, we bring an energy and excitement rarely seen in typical summer camps. We’ve shown youth they can have futures in tech and watched them form lasting friendships.
As we look ahead, our mission remains the same: to enrich lives and open eyes to the possibilities of tech. We hope to set students on paths to achieve their dreams.
