Today we’re excited to announce a new live tracking feature, leveraging AI solutions, that will make the Best Buy delivery or installation experience more convenient than ever.
With this new digital feature, we’ve created a new way for our customers to digitally track their Best Buy deliveries and installations when they purchase large items like big screen TVs, refrigerators, washers, dryers and more. Now, on the day of their delivery or installation, customers will have to-the-minute tracking details on the progress of their order, including a real-time map view of where their driver is along their route.
It’s the latest example of how we’re using technology to create a better experience for our customers from start to finish. (It also aligns with some of the recent additions we’ve made to customer support services that provide easier access to information when it matters most.) We’re using data like predicted demand and real-time traffic patterns to reduce delivery lead times, optimize our routes and ultimately provide customers with live estimated time of arrivals down to the minute.
“Our new live-delivery tracking experience removes the frustration so many of us have felt when we’re given a window of time to wait around at home for an appointment or a larger delivery to arrive,” said Brian Tilzer, chief digital, analytics and technology officer at Best Buy. “We know our customers’ time is extremely valuable, and we’re proud to bring a level of convenience to technology delivery and installation that nobody is currently providing.”
How the tracking feature works
- You’ve ordered a large item, like a big screen TV, refrigerator, or dishwasher from Best Buy and scheduled a day for it to be delivered to you.
- On the morning of your delivery, we’ll send an email or text reminder, letting you know your item will arrive within a four-hour window later that day. The message will provide you with all the relevant details for your delivery appointment. It will let you know when your driver has been assigned, steps to prepare for your delivery, and a “Track our Progress” button that takes you to our live delivery tracking map.
- As soon as your driver starts their route, we’ll provide a live estimated time of arrival (ETA) based on how many other orders your driver is making that day, as well as the general location of where your driver is along their route within the live map. We’ll also notify you if our ETA has changed.
- When your house is next on the delivery route, the real-time tracking map will zoom in to street view and show more specific details on the location of your driver, the route they’re taking to your home, and a live ETA down to the minute. And just in case you need it, right before they arrive, we’ll send you a notification to make sure you’re prepped and ready to receive your order.
