We’re excited to share that young people ages 16 to 21, who are members of their local Best Buy Teen Tech Centers® or other affiliated community organizations, will soon have the opportunity to join Best Buy’s annual Retail Summer Internship program—a six-to-10-week paid internship at a Best Buy store that offers a hands-on introduction to all aspects of retail, building skills that prepare them for future careers.
The Retail Summer Internship program, now in its seventh year, is just one of the ways we’re opening pathways for young people to gain real-world work experience, build essential career skills and explore what’s possible for what comes next.
The Retail Summer Internship program begins June 16 and will give interns opportunities to:
- Build a strong foundation in customer experience, teamwork and problem solving
- Gain exposure to nearly every function in the store from sales advisor to operations and Geek Squad to product flow
- Participate in professional development workshops and speaker sessions, guided by Best Buy mentors, hosted by partners of the Best Buy Foundation.
“Through the Retail Summer Internship program, young people at Best Buy Teen Tech Centers step into real-world roles that help them develop the skills, confidence and experience they need to succeed in a tech-enabled workforce,” said Olivia Jefferson, vice president of social impact, Best Buy. “This program is all about meeting young people where they are and helping them find clear opportunities to grow into careers that lead to economic mobility.”
At the conclusion of the program, interns interested in continuing with Best Buy may be considered for part-time, seasonal or full-time roles, turning this summer opportunity into a longer-term career pathway.
