Best Buy joins list of world’s most ethical companies

Best Buy is thrilled to be one of two U.S. retailers to be recognized as one of the 2019 World’s Most Ethical Companies by Ethisphere Institute, a global leader in ethical business practices.

The honor signifies leadership in building a corporate culture of ethical behavior, while empowering employees and acting as a good corporate citizen. Ethics at Best Buy starts with our purpose: to enrich lives through technology.

We bring our purpose to life through our company values, which are the foundation of Best Buy. They are:

  • Learn from challenge and change;
  • Show respect, humility and integrity;
  • Unleash the power of our people; and
  • Have fun while being the best.

Not only do our employees live these values every day, but we expect our suppliers and partners to act ethically, too. We share our expectations and practices in many ways, including through our robust Code of Business Ethics, Supplier Code of Conduct and training programs.

“Best Buy is an organization with a heart and soul, built upon purposeful, values-driven leadership,” said Best Buy Chairman and CEO Hubert Joly. “We demonstrate this a number of ways, including by the way we ethically serve our customers or colleagues, engage with underserved communities through our Teen Tech Centers or do our part to save our planet through a 50 percent reduction in carbon emissions.”

Best Buy is among 128 honorees from 21 countries. Scores are generated in five key categories: ethics and compliance program, culture of ethics, corporate citizenship and responsibility, governance, and leadership and reputation.

We would like to thank our 125,000 employees for living our values and conducting business the right way.

In addition to the ethics honor, we were recently named No. 1 on Barron’s list of the 100 Most Sustainable Companies for 2019. We were also recognized as a leader in addressing climate change by landing on CDP’s prestigious Climate A List.
