Best Buy named to 2021 Best Employers for Women list

For the third straight year, Best Buy has been named to Forbes magazine’s list of America’s Best Employers for Women.

The ranking is based on an independent survey that asked respondents to rate their employers and peer companies based on topics such as development, salary, benefits, diversity and the likelihood of recommending their employer.

At Best Buy, we are committed to gender equity. We were recently named one of Parity.org’s Best Companies for Women to Advance, and we were included in Bloomberg’s Gender Equality Index.

Committed to inclusion

Best Buy is focused on developing an inclusive culture where everyone feels valued for who they are and can bring their true selves to work. As part of that, we’re committed to increasing the number of women — and women leaders — across all areas of our business.

Here are some examples of how we’re bringing that to life:

  • Leadership – We’re proud to have women leaders at the highest levels of our company. That includes CEO Corie Barry and 45% of our board of directors. In 2017, Best Buy signed Parity.org’s ParityPledge, committing to interview a least one qualified female candidate for every open position at the vice president level and above.
  • Field – We have set a goal to fill one out of three new, non-hourly field roles with women. That includes our supply chain network, where a growing number of women have found successful careers in leadership.
  • Digital & Technology – We’ve announced a goal to hire more than 1,000 new employees to our technology team over the next two years, with 30% being women and people of color. Already, women leaders are playing a key role in our tech transformation.

Additionally, we offer a wide range of benefits aimed at supporting women and families, and we have added or enhanced those resources during the COVID-19 pandemic. We also host an active Women’s Employee Resource Group, which promotes networking, development and leadership opportunities for female employees.

About the list

Forbes teamed up with market research company Statista to identify the companies liked most by female workers. The list was compiled by surveying 50,000 Americans, including 30,000 women, working for businesses with at least 1,000 employees. Representation at the executive and board levels were taken into account, as were initiatives to improve gender equity and recent or unresolved allegations regarding discrimination or misconduct.
