This Friday (Oct. 19), Best Buy will open its first new U.S. store in seven years in Farmington, Utah.
The 36,000-square foot store will open at 10 a.m. after a ribbon-cutting ceremony with remarks from Best Buy leaders and donations to youth-serving organizations.
A suburb of Salt Lake City, Farmington is a growing area. The new store will be at Station Park, a shopping center at the convergence of three major highways and a commuter train stop. Shoppers will have no problem getting there.
This will be our ninth store in the Salt Lake City area, but the closest locations are more than 15 miles away.
“Farmington is unique and a gathering place, and we believe Best Buy will be a great addition to our community,” Mayor Jim Talbot said. “We look forward to a long relationship with them.”
The store will offer a variety of appliances, premium audio and home theater tech, and other products. It also will have experiences from Apple, Microsoft and more, as well as Geek Squad services. It’s also the first Best Buy store with our updated logo on the building.
Bret Nelson, the store’s general manager, is ready for the opening. He moved to Utah from Oregon for the opportunity to lead there.
“The team’s excited. They’ve been preparing for a couple months now. We have a great group ready to serve the people of Farmington,” he said. “My kids go to school in Utah, and my parents and half of my family live in Utah, so I knew it’s where I wanted to end up.”
Investing in stores, community
As the Farmington store prepares to open, work has also been underway at other stores to improve customer experience in the area.
By Oct. 19, our South Salt Lake store will be remodeled, and will get more appliances options along with stores in Jordan Landing, Murray, Orem, Riverdale and Sandy. Some of these stores also will get more premium audio and home theater tech.
Additionally, we’re investing in the local community. In September and October, we’re donating $25,000 to organizations that serve youth throughout the Salt Lake City area. We’re also exploring local nonprofit hosts for a Best Buy Teen Tech Center, which will support young people with year-round tech tools, training and mentorship.
