13 Dec: Game On! Nintendo Family Fun Day is Back at Best Buy Dec. 14

Looking for some family competition this holiday season? Then think about swinging by Best Buy this weekend for Nintendo Family Fun Day.

You and the entire family will be able to put your gaming skills to the test on this season’s hottest games.

More than 100 stores will offer Nintendo Switch demos on Saturday, Dec. 14, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. local time. You can check out the full list of stores here.

This year we’ll have even more titles for you to try out, including Luigi’s Mansion 3, Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, Ring Fit Adventure, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Super Smash Bros.

Every year, March 10, or Mar10, is celebrated as “Mario Day” (get it? 27 Feb: New Pokémon Sword, Pokémon Shield coming to Nintendo Switch

Nintendo is taking Pokémon trainers on a new adventure.

The company just announced two new games for Nintendo Switch coming in late 2019: Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield.

The next adventure takes place in the new Galar region, where people and Pokémon live in a variety of environments — contemporary cities, vast plains and snowy mountains. Together, you and the Pokémon will explore the region, visit new gyms and challenge other eager trainers to claim victory.

Three new Pokémon are also available for trainers to select as their trusty partner as they venture out into the Galar region.

04 Dec: Best Buy stores open late for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Mario, Link and Pikachu are back for the ultimate faceoff.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for Nintendo Switch, one of this year’s hottest new games, comes out later this week. And Best Buy will be open late, so you can be one of the first to take it home and play all night long.

More than 600 Best Buy stores across the country will open for the release at 12:01 a.m. Eastern time on Friday, Dec. 7. (That means Thursday, Dec. 6, at 11:01 p.m.

10 Mar: Why I’m Celebrating Mario Day

March 10 is Mario Day (MAR10 looks like the name Mario — get it?).

It’s just another great day for fans to celebrate our favorite animated plumber.

I am one of those fans of Nintendo’s mustachioed hero. Let me explain.

Mario holds a special place in my heart. During my childhood, I remember my typical weekend ritual: saddling up in my living room, sitting way too close to the television, blowing into the Super Mario World gaming cartridge (a technique that I later found does absolutely nothing at all), and switching on the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES).

From noon to 3 p.m. local time, you and your family can try out some of this holiday season’s hottest games. Play Super Mario Odyssey on Nintendo Switch and Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon on Nintendo 3DS, and score Nintendo prizes when you demo.

20 Oct: 600+ Best Buy Stores Open Late for Super Mario Odyssey

The countdown is on, gamers.

Best Buy stores will be open late next week so you can bring home Super Mario Odyssey for the Nintendo Switch, which was just awarded a rare perfect score by Edge.

More than 600 U.S. Best Buy locations will be opening simultaneously at 12:01 a.m. ET on Friday, Oct. 27. That means 9:01 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 26, for those on West Coast; 10:01 p.m. for gamers on Mountain Time and 11:01 p.m. for fans in Central Time.

09 Oct: Best Buy Qualifier Wins Nintendo World Championships

Besting 23 opponents in games of the past and present, Thomas “Ito” Gonda of California won the Nintendo World Championships over the weekend in New York City.

Thomas — a 21-year-old computer science student at San Diego State University — unseated defending champion John “Numbers” Goldberg during a best-of-three final series of Super Mario Odyssey on the Nintendo Switch console.

The victory ended his status as a lifelong runner-up, Thomas said.

The Nintendo World Championships, held Oct. 7, featured head-to-head competition on games like Mario Party 2 and Donkey Kong Country Returns.
