30 Apr: Best Buy Picks Sites for Next 5 Teen Tech Centers

Best Buy is forging ahead with the rapid expansion of its Teen Tech Center program, announcing five new locations that will open in 2020.

We’re adding a location in Los Angeles, where we opened one in 2016. We’ll also open our first locations in El Paso, Texas; Kansas City, Missouri; Portland, Oregon; and San Jose, California.

Teen Tech Centers are free, interactive learning spaces where teens can explore technology and learn how to use it with the help of other teens and adult mentors.

15 Apr: Best Buy CEO, CFO share thoughts on evolution of leadership roles

Best Buy announced changes coming to its top leadership ranks on Monday.

Current Chairman and CEO Hubert Joly will stay with the company and move into a newly created position, Executive Chairman. Corie Barry, currently Chief Financial and Strategic Transformation Officer, will become CEO effective at the completion of the company’s annual meeting of shareholders on June 11.

They’ve worked together for seven years, closely for the last three, and have deep respect for each other and passion for Best Buy.

(NYSE: BBY) today announced that its board of directors has elected Corie Barry, currently the company’s Chief Financial and Strategic Transformation Officer, to become Chief Executive Officer, effective following the company’s annual meeting of shareholders on June 11, 2019. At that time, Hubert Joly, Best Buy’s current Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, will transition to the newly created role of Executive Chairman of the Board.

03 Apr: Store managers pave way for disabilities extern program at Best Buy

What started out as a passion by two Best Buy general managers to help people in their communities has turned into a companywide program.

Mike “Roz” Rozborski from our store in Chesterfield, Michigan, and Chuck O’Donnell from our store in Rockaway, New Jersey, wanted to find ways for people with disabilities to be able to work at Best Buy.

“So many parents would call or stop in, asking if their son or daughter could work at the store because they loved what we sold,” said Roz.

29 Mar: Brooklyn is home to Best Buy’s newest Teen Tech Center

Jasmine Morris has been going to the King’s Highway branch of the Brooklyn Public Library almost daily since seventh grade. Now, a little over two years later, there’s more reason than ever to visit.

That’s because the library is now home to a Best Buy Teen Tech Center, a free, interactive learning space where teens like Jasmine can explore technology and learn how to use it. There are computers, cameras, virtual reality devices, a 3-D printer and full music studio.

“My first time going to the center, it was literally jaw-dropping,” Jasmine, 14, said at a grand opening event on Thursday.

28 Mar: Why Best Buy is an HRC Best Place to Work

Best Buy landed a top spot on the annual Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Corporate Equality Index, achieving a perfect rating of 100 and earning the designation as a “Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality” for the 14th year.

HRC’s Corporate Equality Index benchmarks and reports on how companies are helping to achieve workplace equality for LGBTQ employees.

At Best Buy, inclusivity is not only our policy, but it’s embedded in our culture. Our leaders encourage employees to “bring their whole selves” to work, and they mean it.

19 Mar: Best Buy named top retail website in Mexico

Best Buy Mexico took first place in the retail category at the eCommerce Awards Mexico 2019, the country’s highest recognition for online companies.

The awards were presented by the eCommerce Institute and the Mexican Online Sales Association as part of eRetail Day Mexico on March 7. A jury of international experts chose the winners.

“We are so proud to receive this prestigious award,” said Fernando Silva, president of Best Buy Mexico. “It’s a great testament to the hard work and dedication of our teams to create a world-class, multichannel customer experience.”

18 Mar: Teen wins global award for poem she wrote for Best Buy video

In just over a year, Naje Wright went from being a curious teen with a passion for technology to winning a prestigious global creative award.

Naje, 16, recently won the The One Club for Creativity’s “Emerging Writer” award at the One Screen Short Film Festival for a “spoken word” poem she wrote for a Best Buy marketing campaign. The other winners included film makers, ad agencies and big brands from around the world.

Naje was one of three teens featured in the campaign aimed at boosting awareness for the young people supported by Best Buy’s Teen Tech Centers, which train teens from underserved  communities for tech-reliant jobs in the future.

14 Mar: Best Buy Joins 160+ Companies in Support of Equality Act

Best Buy has joined the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) and more than 160 leading U.S. businesses to support the Equality Act, federal legislation that would add non-discrimination protections for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) people to U.S. civil rights laws.

Support for this legislation demonstrates our commitment to non-discrimination and determination to foster a diverse and inclusive environment for employees and customers. 08 Mar: St. Jude visit offers Best Buy leaders a dose of hope

The anticipation of visiting a hospital for sick children can stir a range of emotions. Best Buy General Manager Derek Muller expected a heartbreaking experience of seeing kids fighting cancer and other diseases. Instead, on a tour of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital ® in Memphis, he saw hope.
