As Geek Squad Agent Brandon Majors made a left turn in his Geekmobile last week near Peru, Indiana, he noticed something out of the corner of his eye — a big, red dump truck. And it was barreling toward him.
Agent Majors attempted a last-second U-turn to avoid a crash. The truck – with a full load of limestone gravel – swerved, overturned and smashed on top of the Geekmobile before skidding to a stop.
The 26-year-old found himself trapped under all the rock and wreckage.
Best Buy is already known for the high number of women in leadership roles, and now the company is pledging to do even more to encourage gender balance within its executive ranks.
Best Buy has signed on to the ParityPledge™, in which companies promise to interview at least one qualified woman candidate for every open position, vice president and above, including the C-suite and board.

This summer, our 11th season, Geek Squad Academy brought 1,250 of our employees out to their communities to work with 4,800 Junior Agents. Classes included 3-D design, digital music, coding, programming and much more.
It was an amazing summer of tech education and exploration. Here are three lessons I learned:
Jasmine Lankford opened the small orange box and removed the contents of the Kano computer kit. It contained an HDMI cable, speaker, wireless keyboard, HD display, battery and, most important, an instruction book.
Then, the eighth-grader spent the next hour building her own PC, step by step. “I love this. This is so awesome,” she said with a huge grin. “I’ve made my own computer!”
Jasmine was one of 300 students at Los Alisos STEM Magnet Middle School in suburban Los Angeles who built Kano computers Tuesday afternoon with help from more than 100 Best Buy employees from across the country.
Did Mom lock the front door before going to bed? How has she been sleeping? Has she been staying active? Those and other questions had become more common for Britt Stanton, whose mom is 71.
“While she’s young at heart, she’s not as young as she used to be, and I start to worry about her,” said Britt, who works at Best Buy’s corporate office in Minneapolis.
She’s one of millions of Americans who balance caring for aging parents with raising their own children, working full-time jobs and fulfilling other obligations.

Best Buy Chairman and CEO Hubert Joly signed on to a letter Friday with hundreds of business leaders calling to preserve the program that keeps undocumented immigrants who came to the United States as youth from being deported. The letter also urges legislation for a permanent solution.
The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program allows 800,000 undocumented young adults and youth, known as “Dreamers,” to study and work in the United States.
