13 Sep: Best Buy earns another Dow Jones sustainability honor

Best Buy has been named to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) for the eighth consecutive year. In addition to being included on the North America Index, we are one of only two U.S. retailers to be named to the Dow Jones World Index.

The indices rank the sustainability performance of the largest 2,500 companies in the world. They follow a best-in-class approach to measure and compare companies on environmental, social and corporate governance criteria. The Indices serve as a benchmarking tool for investors who incorporate sustainability performance into their portfolios.

01 May: Best Buy Now Accepting Applications for Community Grants

Calling all teen-focused nonprofits! We’re looking for local partners who can help us reach our goal of helping prepare 1 million teens from underserved communities for tech-reliant jobs every year.

Our Community Grants program awards up to $10,000 to nonprofits across the country whose programs focus on tech education for teens outside of school. Programs should include hands-on learning opportunities and engage youth in experimenting and interacting with the latest technologies to build 21st century skills.

We know every community’s needs are unique.

19 Apr: Here’s How You Can Tech Green Every Day

Although Earth Day is a great time to think about our planet, at Best Buy, we are helping our customers live eco-friendly every day. From energy-saving products to our e-waste recycling program, we are all about offering our customers ways to tech green.

When it comes to purchasing sustainable tech, just look for the ENERGY STAR® mark. It means the products meet the highest standards of energy efficiency. It’s not just appliances that earn the ENERGY STAR mark, either. Some of the coolest smart tech for your home can also save energy.

16 Apr: Video: Best Buy and HP are Closing the Loop on Printers

We’ve teamed up with HP to take recycling one step further — by creating new printers made of plastic from old printers and other electronics from our recycling program. It’s called closed-loop recycling.

We’re excited to announce that the HP ENVY 6255, 7155 and 7855 now contain even more recycled plastic (more than 20 percent by weight). Watch this video to learn more.

Best Buy - ERI

12 Apr: Q&A: Meet One of Best Buy’s Recycling Partners

Best Buy customers love upgrading their electronics and appliances to keep up with the latest technology. But that also means getting rid of the old stuff.

California-based Electronic Recyclers International (ERI) has been one of Best Buy’s trusted recycling partners for nearly a decade. It handles millions of old products our customers bring in. We sat down with ERI Executive Chairman John Shegerian to get his thoughts on a service industry that didn’t exist just 15 years ago.

What is ERI’s partnership with Best Buy?

Energy Star Partner of the Year

02 Apr: Energy Star Honors Best Buy For 5th Year

What does it mean when you see the ENERGY STAR® logo on a product? The little blue sticker means the item meets the highest standards of energy efficiency, set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

At Best Buy, we like this logo because it helps us identify sustainable products for our customers, helping them save energy and money on their utility bills.

Because of our dedication to educating customers and offering a wide variety of ENERGY STAR certified products, the EPA has named Best Buy a Retail Partner of the Year for the fifth year in a row.

05 Mar: Best Buy Announces 2018 National Grant Recipients

Best Buy recently set a lofty goal: to prepare 1 million teens from underserved communities for tech-reliant jobs each year by 2020.

We know this work is key, not only to help solve a skills gap, but to build a diverse talent pipeline for Best Buy and our partner companies. However, we can’t accomplish it alone. That’s why we’re partnering with nonprofits focused on tech education who can help us make a greater collective impact.

This year, we are investing nearly $1.5 million in our National Grants Program, funding nine strategic partners who provide curriculum and programming for our new Career Pathways program.

27 Feb: Best Buy’s Hubert Joly Honored with Force for Good Award

What does it mean to be a good company? Is it about paying fair wages? Absolutely. Having excellent customer service? Definitely. Giving back the communities? Of course.

But at Best Buy, we think it’s about more than that: Being a good company means helping to solve societal problems, like lack of tech education for teens from underserved communities and climate change.

On Monday, CECP (Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy) honored Best Buy Chairman and CEO Hubert Joly with its distinguished Force for Good Award.

13 Feb: Installing a Smart Thermostat (All By Myself!)

I bought my husband a Nest learning thermostat for his birthday, and I promised that I was going to install it myself. However, that was a year ago.

With the extreme Minnesota weather, every time I thought about taking it out of the box, it was deemed either too hot or too cold to turn off our heating and cooling system, you know, “just in case” I messed something up.

Well, no more excuses. I decided to get it done.

I was a little overwhelmed at the thought of installing smart technology in my house, but after watching this video, I knew I could do it.
