2022 JUST 100 List

12 Jan: Best Buy named to 2022 JUST 100 list

Best Buy has been named to the 2022 JUST 100 list, recognizing companies for doing right by all of their stakeholders, including our employees, customers, communities, and the environment.

This is the second year in a row we’ve made this top 100 list, which evaluates and ranks nearly 1,000 of the largest publicly traded companies in the United States.

JUST Capital and its partners compile the annual list by polling 3,000 Americans to identify the stakeholders and issues they think companies should focus on most, and then evaluated companies based on what respondents agreed should be prioritized.

18 May: Update on Best Buy’s face coverings policy

Since the beginning of the pandemic, we have relied on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control in making all COVID-19 safety decisions and have closely followed their guidelines even as some states and cities relaxed their policies. Last week’s CDC announcement about face coverings, of course, caused us to look at how we might now refine our safety policies.

Beginning immediately, fully vaccinated customers are no longer required to wear face coverings in our stores, except where otherwise mandated by state or local order.

03 May: Best Buy ranked No. 1 big-box retailer for COVID-19 safety

Best Buy has ranked as the top big-box retailer in a national assessment of brands’ safety response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ipsos, a leading market research firm, compiled its Consumer Health & Safety Index based on results from shoppers at 3,500 individual locations and a survey of 2,000 people. It evaluated which health and safety attributes are most important to customers and how brands are performing compared to consumer expectations.

Best Buy led big-box retailers in several categories, including social distancing measures, sanitizer offerings and employees wearing masks and gloves.

We have been devastated as we’ve watched the rapidly rising cases of COVID-19 in India. Our hearts and thoughts are with everyone in the country, including many of our colleagues, friends and partners.

“The growing human impact of the COVID-19 crisis in India is very much on my mind, the minds of our leadership team and, I know, the minds of our employees — especially those who have friends and family in the region,” said Brian Tilzer, Best Buy’s chief digital and technology officer.

18 Mar: Best Buy continues focus on safety with enhanced COVID-19 testing program for frontline employees

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, our teams have shown great flexibility and perseverance while delivering an exceptional customer experience in a safe environment. And although the country continues to make significant progress in rolling out the COVID-19 vaccine, we recognize that the next few months are critical. We also know that as testing is more readily available in many parts across the country, it plays a key role in defeating COVID-19.

That’s one reason why we’re rolling out a nationwide COVID-19 testing program for all Best Buy employees who aren’t usually working from home.

11 Mar: Best Buy Celebrates An Award-Winning Culture of Ethics

The way we work, shop and communicate has significantly changed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. What hasn’t changed, however, is our approach to how we do business at Best Buy.

We strive to be at our best in every decision, every day, and we’re proud to be recognized by Ethisphere as one of World’s Most Ethical Companies for the seventh time. We are one of only three retailers on this year’s list, which looked at issues such as COVID response, diversity initiatives and environmental practices.

02 Mar: Clear Face Coverings Make Big Impact For Hard-Of-Hearing Manager

When Dennis Parry learned that Best Buy would require face coverings for employees as a safety measure during COVID-19, he grew concerned.

Dennis is hard of hearing, and as a general manager, he relies on reading lips to communicate with employees and customers at his store in Easton, Pennsylvania. Face coverings would make that impossible.

“When I first heard about the change, I felt like I was going to be a hindrance to the team,” he said. “I wanted to make sure I’d be able to communicate with my staff.”

The Big Game is one of the most anticipated events of the year, but this time around we won’t see a packed stadium or the usual parties and events with cheering fans.

However, there are still ways for football fans across the county to come together around the chips, dips and TV. Hosting a virtual Big Game party via video calls or smart displays makes it possible to be in the same room even if you are football fields — or states — apart.

Whether you’re hanging on every play or just tuning in for the commercials and halftime show, here are a few tips to enjoy a fun online gathering for the Big Game.

From access to software to learning the latest tech, Best Buy Teen Tech Centers are helping address the opportunity gap for teens in disinvested communities.

We know we can’t do it alone, so we work with a range of partners across the country — including a number of our vendor partners — to empower youth with the technology and tools they need to thrive now and in the future.

“What we’re trying to do with our Teen Tech Centers and Career Pathways programs is really to help build brighter futures for teens,” said Andrea Wood, vice president of social impact.
