10 Apr: Social Distancing Versus Social Isolation

Long before news of the coronavirus emerged in late 2019, researchers have been studying the effects of isolation on older people.

Now, as the world responds with unprecedented speed to the threat of COVID-19, the urgency of helping everybody stay in touch is an urgent priority – especially for vulnerable seniors and the newly telecommuting, homeschooling, stressed sandwich generation, who coordinates their care (now from a distance).

Physical social distancing is a critical precaution to “flatten the curve.”

10 Apr: Live Healthier At Home, With Tech

With millions of Americans finding themselves doing nearly everything under the same roof because of the COVID-19 crisis, it’s become more important than ever to find ways to maintain our health and wellness from the comfort of home.

Best Buy In-Home Advisor Michael Clark is just the guy to help show us how technology can help us not just survive, but thrive. He has visited upward of 3,000 homes over the past six years to help people understand how technology can enhance their lives.

10 Apr: Music Brings Family Together In Time Of Social Distancing

Robert Berry knows how to carry a tune.

After all, he grew up in a musical household. His mom was a classically trained concert pianist, his father was a Baptist preacher with a booming baritone vocalist, and he and his nine siblings all sang in the church choir. But that was years ago.

“We literally had not taken the time to sing together since our father’s funeral in 2008,” said Robert, who is a risk and compliance manager at Best Buy.

Like many of us, Robert wanted a way to connect with others amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

09 Apr: How To Fight COVID-19 By Turning On Your Computer

A team of Best Buy employees is helping in the fight against COVID-19 simply by turning on their computers.

They’re among more than 700,000 people worldwide who have downloaded Folding@Home, a software that crowdsources users’ computing power to help crunch COVID-19 data. The program simply runs in the background of a PC or Mac when it’s turned on but not in use.

It might sound too good to be true, but it’s an example of how people are using science and tech to come together for the greater good.

22 Mar: Here’s How Curbside Pickup Works At Best Buy To Get Your Tech Essentials

We know our customers depend on Best Buy for the technology necessities valuable during this time when people need to stay home because of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. That’s why we’re adapting to a new way of making our stores accessible while keeping things safe for our customers and employees: contactless curbside pickup.

As of Sunday, March 22, customers are no longer allowed inside Best Buy stores. Our employees, however, will bring products ordered on BestBuy.com, through our app or over the phone, out to vehicles.

19 Mar: A Note From Best Buy CEO Corie Barry

Earlier this week, we announced changes to how Best Buy will run our business in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. Against this backdrop, I wanted to share some of my thoughts about what we’re facing and how Best Buy is responding.

Right now, our role as a consumer electronics retailer is rapidly shifting and we are striving to make the best decisions with two goals in mind: The first is to protect our customers, employees and their families. The second is to do the best we can to serve the millions of Americans who are looking to us for increasingly vital technology tools to stay connected, as well as household necessities.

17 Mar: Update From Best Buy

The situation we’re facing as a company and as individuals is unprecedented and changing at a pace all of us are working to keep up with. We are making the best decisions we can with two goals in mind: protecting employees, customers and their respective families, while trying our best to serve the millions of Americans who rely on us for increasingly vital technology that keeps them connected to their school and work, and for the appliances necessary to help them store and prepare food.
