A year ago, assistant sales manager Valerie Holt was assisting a customer with a hearing disability and struggling to communicate with the customer.
Written notes and a few online searches for translations helped them navigate through the experience, but Valerie knew the customer deserved more. Following that interaction, she decided ‘never again’ and went home to learn American Sign Language (ASL).

Mitchell, an employee at our York, Pennsylvania store And rising sophomore at Villanova University, was selected to represent his school in the “Jeopardy!” National College Championship.
He’s one of just 36 students chosen to participate in this competition, with the winner of the tournament earning a $250,000 grand prize and the title of Jeopardy!

With his retirement around the corner, Tim Nickel, didn’t think his legacy after 15 years at Best Buy would be gift cards. But then again, he didn’t know his idea would help keep more than 200 tons of plastic waste from landfills.
That idea was a recyclable paper gift card.
Tim, who’s our gift card production manager, is responsible for printing the cards and getting them on store shelves in the U.S. and Canada. In 2011, he learned just how many gift cards go to landfills and that each one takes around 500 years to break down.

“She never sits down,” said Ken McCullum, Best Buy senior market operations and service manager, who has known Ciji for six years.
