electric transportation

27 Sep: Electric transportation helps commuters make that last mile

Longtime Best Buy employee Gilbert Moore was excited about his recent move to a new store in San Francisco, but getting there quickly proved to be a challenge.

He tried taking the bus — a 10-minute ride followed by a 12-minute walk from the stop to the store. Sometimes the bus was late or didn’t show up.

He tried riding his bicycle, but the crowded morning commute and finding space to store the bike was difficult.

“One day, I came to work and one of the managers was riding an electric scooter, and I said, ‘We sell those?!’”

We chatted with Evan to learn more about the event.

Q: Why was Best Buy at this event?

A: As a part of our relationship with event organizer, a company called Trend Hunter, several members of the Best Buy Market and Consumer Insights team and I had the opportunity to attend this year.

accidents

19 Sep: Avoid those cracked screens, dropped laptops and other campus tech fails

The school year is in full swing, and all those new back-to-school gadgets are (hopefully) being put to good use. Now, the goal is to keep them that way.

College-bound students spent the biggest chunk of their back-to-school budgets on consumer electronics this year,* and unfortunately (but not totally surprising), 18-to-24 year-olds are more likely than the general population to have accidents with their tech. College students are especially at risk for tech mishaps**.

Aaron Perkins is a senior at West Virginia University, and he’s also a Geek Squad Agent at our store in Morgantown, West Virginia.

Insignia Fire TV Edition

17 Sep: Insignia Fire TV Edition Now Available

Insignia has been making TVs for years. Today, they’re getting even better.

Just like the Toshiba Fire TV Edition models, the new Insignia televisions will have the same great experience that seamlessly integrates live, over-the-air TV and all your streaming channels on one, easy-to-view home screen (HD antenna required).

home security

22 Aug: How to build your own home security system

Technology has allowed us to make our homes smarter than ever. It can also make them safer than ever, too. And a whole host of products makes building your own home security system a breeze.

Best Buy In-Home Advisor Konrad Johnson hears from a lot of customers who are interested in outfitting their homes with cameras, alarms and other devices they can install and operate themselves.

“With so many smart home products out there, you can get overwhelmed,” he says. ‘If you’re just getting going, I recommend starting with a smart lock and a doorbell camera.”
