RICHFIELD, Minn. and PROVO, Utah (May 4, 2017) – Best Buy and Vivint Smart Home today announced a strategic partnership to give customers an easy way to automate and manage their homes, called Best Buy Smart Home powered by Vivint. MINNEAPOLIS – (April 20, 2017) – Best Buy is deepening its commitment to helping underserved teens get access to essential tech tools by growing its flagship Geek Squad Academy (GSA) summer program more than 30 percent to conduct 40 camps supporting 8,500 teens this year.

“It’s clear that the challenges facing underserved youth are growing, with resources becoming more stretched even as the vast majority of future jobs will require tech proficiency,” said Andrea Wood, director of Community Relations at Best Buy.

More than 100 employees from Best Buy stores across the country recently traveled to Colorado for a crash course in photography.

During the weeklong training, a team of world-class photographers put the attendees through a series of classes and provided one-on-one advice and coaching. That knowledge was then put to the test in hands-on scenarios, including poor light, action shots and portraits.

They join a group of more than 500 other Best Buy employees who have completed the rigorous training over the past two years.
