21 May: Save On Nest Thermostats This Month

At Best Buy, we’re committed to offering products that help our customers reduce their carbon footprints while saving money on their utility bills.

For the average household, more than half of the energy used is for heating and cooling1. A great way to control, monitor and reduce energy used at home is by installing a smart thermostat.

To help our customers save energy and money, we’re partnering with Google to offer deals on Nest smart thermostats this month.

From now through May 31:

13 Feb: Installing a Smart Thermostat (All By Myself!)

I bought my husband a Nest learning thermostat for his birthday, and I promised that I was going to install it myself. However, that was a year ago.

With the extreme Minnesota weather, every time I thought about taking it out of the box, it was deemed either too hot or too cold to turn off our heating and cooling system, you know, “just in case” I messed something up.

Well, no more excuses. I decided to get it done.

I was a little overwhelmed at the thought of installing smart technology in my house, but after watching this video, I knew I could do it.

24 Jun: High-Tech or Low-Tech, Beat the Heat Your Way

It’s that time of year when temperatures start climbing and sweat starts falling.

If you want to stay cool, there are the old standbys: Head for the lake, to a beach or to a pool and dive in.

But what if you want to stay cool at home? There are lots of options for bringing the temperature in your home down without cooling the entire house. Here are some suggestions from Best Buy:

  • A portable air conditioner, like one from Honeywell, allows you to switch between A/C, dehumidifying and a plain old fan.
