15 Mar: Best Buy Announces Brad Anderson Will Retire from Board of Directors, Claudia Fan Munce Appointed to Join Board

MINNEAPOLIS – March 15, 2016 – Best Buy Co., Inc. today announced that former CEO Brad Anderson will retire from the Board of Directors and that the company has appointed corporate venture capital leader Claudia Fan Munce to the Board, effective March 14.

Anderson will serve the remainder of his term through the end of the annual shareholder meeting on June 14. Munce will stand for election at that time.

More than 500 teens across the United States are learning the finer points of building websites with the help of Best Buy and Geek Squad volunteers during Teen Tech Week.

The classes are happening at 27 libraries in 22 states through Saturday, March 12. This year’s theme for Teen Tech Week is “Create it at your library.”

Geek Squad Academy’s “Web-Know How” is the foundation for the classes. Topics covered include:

  • Making websites by manipulating code through hands-on and guided online activities.

09 Mar: Best Buy Receives EPA Climate Leadership Award

Best Buy was honored for its leadership in addressing climate change on Tuesday during the Climate Leadership Conference in Seattle.

The company received the Climate Leadership Award for Excellence in Greenhouse Gas Management. The award acknowledges our public reporting and verification of greenhouse gas inventories, as well as our aggressive emissions reduction goals.

Best Buy recently set a new goal to reduce carbon emissions 45 percent by 2020. This science-based goal builds on the 26 percent reduction in carbon achieved in our operations last year.
