19 Aug: Best Buy is Proud to be Named to Fortune’s Change the World List

Best Buy is honored to be named to Fortune’s Change the World list, which recognizes companies for using their business strategy and operations to make a positive social or environmental impact. We ranked No. 32 out of 52 on the list and are one of three retail companies.

We were recognized for our leadership role in helping customers live more sustainably. Best Buy offers customers electronics and appliances that save energy and money, keeps electronics in the “use” phase longer through repair and trade-in services, and recycles electronics and appliances.

19 Jun: After collecting 2 billion pounds of e-waste, Best Buy expands recycling program

Best Buy has helped our customers recycle 2 billion pounds of electronics and appliances since 2009, and now we’re making it easier than ever to get rid of your old devices.

Our Geek Squad Agents and In-Home Advisors, who make house calls to provide consultations and other tech-support services, will now offer to take items with them to be recycled. They’ll take cables and cords, Wi-Fi gear, audio equipment and other items that don’t contain personal data — all to help you declutter safely and conveniently.

19 Apr: Join us in living a more eco-friendly life

At Best Buy, we’re proud to play our part in creating a more sustainable future, from launching green initiatives to offering products that help the earth (and your wallet). From Earth Month and beyond, here’s how we’re taking care of our planet, and helping our customers do the same:

Reduce, reuse, recycle and repair

If your device or appliance isn’t working quite right, Geek Squad can help determine if repairing it is an option to extend its life.

That old technology you never use anymore doesn’t need to go in the trash.

11 Feb: Barron’s names Best Buy most sustainable company in U.S.

At Best Buy, we’re proud of the hard work we do to positively impact our communities, people and the environment. And we’re excited that others are taking notice.

Barron’s has named Best Buy No. 1 on its list of the 100 Most Sustainable Companies for 2019. We ranked third when the publication’s inaugural list came out last year.

“Sustainability is embedded in everything we do,” Best Buy Chairman and CEO Hubert Joly said. “It starts with the company’s philosophy to contribute to the common good and our purpose to enrich lives through technology by addressing key human needs.”

Climate Change Card

22 Jan: Best Buy named to top tier of companies fighting climate change

Best Buy’s environmental report card is out – and we’re at the top of the class when it comes to tackling climate change.

It’s a big deal for us because CDP (formerly known as the Carbon Disclosure Project) is the global authority on environmental issues, including climate change.

This is the third time CDP has recognized Best Buy as an environmental leader on the Climate A List. The distinction puts Best Buy among the top 5 percent of companies participating in CDP’s climate change program.

Why you are attending COP24?

I am thrilled to be part of Climate Generation’s Window into COP24 program. Climate Generation: A Will Steger Legacy is an organization dedicated to climate education, youth leadership and citizen engagement for innovative climate change solutions.

Paper gift cards

12 Nov: Paper or plastic? New gift cards are made from trees

When it comes to selecting a gift for someone, you can rarely go wrong with a gift card to their favorite store. And now, when it’s a Best Buy gift card, you can feel good about how it’s made.

That’s because we’re saying “Bye-bye!” to plastic gift cards and “Season’s Greetings!” to gift cards made of paper.

Why the switch? It all comes down to what happens to the gift card after the last cent is spent. Our new gift cards and packaging can go right into the recycling bin.
