30 Jun: Bidets: Sustainability’s Best Kept Secret

In the early weeks of the pandemic, consumers were stunned to find empty shelves in the toilet paper aisle.

In response, a growing number of Americans turned to the bidet, finally giving it the attention it deserves. While this handy bathroom accessory has been around for more than 300 years and are popular in other parts of the world, it never really caught on in the U.S.

While toilet paper is back on store shelves, bidets remain as relevant as ever because they’re easy to use and better for the environment.

09 Apr: For Georgia Manager, Cleaning Up The Community Is A Team Activity

Back in 2007, Melissa Freidus was bothered by how quickly trash cans around her Best Buy store in Gainesville, Georgia, were filling up with soda bottles.

One day, the solution to her garbage woes walked right through the store’s front door: a man wearing a City of Gainesville sanitation jacket.

Melissa told him she was interested in recycling and asked if he knew how she could get started. She found the right person, he told her, because he was the superintendent of solid waste for the city.

14 Nov: Hubert Joly Links Business Purpose, Corporate Responsibility at BSR

A company’s ultimate purpose is to serve the common good, Best Buy Executive Chairman Hubert Joly said Wednesday at the annual conference of Business for Social Responsibility (BSR).

“The purpose of a company is not to make money,” he said. “It is to serve all of the stakeholders, including customers, employees, partners, vendors, the communities in which we operate, the environment and shareholders. The idea is that there is no trade-off, no need to choose between the various stakeholders.”

Hubert noted that businesses “do well by doing good” and that a company’s sustainability efforts are most impactful when they are connected to its business purpose and overall success.

04 Nov: Best Buy Gift Cards Now 100% Paper

Just in time for the holiday season, Best Buy is proud to announce that 100% of our gift cards purchased in U.S. stores and online are now made of paper.

That means they’re recyclable in any curbside bin — a big win for the environment. We are one of only a handful of retailers to offer customers 100% paper gift cards.

This year we will have saved more than 70 tons of plastic from landfill (that’s the weight of about 35 cars)!
